Al Gore's Obama Endorsement: More Bucks or More Boredom?

Former Vice President Al Gore is now supporting Barack Obama, but the inconvenient truth of the matter is that no one seems to care. His endorsement "feels so ‘Al Gore’…anti-climactic, ho-hum" says Gloria Feldt, author and women’s rights activist former president of Planned Parenthood.

But still, an Oscar and Nobel prize must be good for something? We asked three political pundits to get out MainStreet conversation going:

"Al Gore’s endorsement comes too late to make a bit of difference in the presidential race…a Gore endorsement in February would have been earth shattering; in June it doesn’t register on the Richter scale at all." --Bill O’Reilly, New York based political strategist and partner at NLO Strategies

"It might help Obama consolidate support and I’m sure it’ll open some money spigots from friends of Al Gore…people who’ve bankrolled his cable channel, people like Laurie David who have helped to bankroll An Inconvenient Truth (VIA), people for whom the environmental issues are top-line concerns." --Gloria Feldt, author and former president of Planned Parenthood

"Quite possibly the least surprising endorsement ever: Bill endorsing Hillary was bigger news…[But] despite its inevitability, this endorsement carries a sense of history. With HBO (TWX) now airing its dramatization of the 2000 recount, here we have Gore, the candidate who should have been President, passing the torch to his rightful heir."  -- John Neffinger, KNP Communications and Huffington Post politics blogger
